Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Bring your students to the next level

Symmetry is a fascinating topic to study in geometry.

In this program we will look aat the symmetry that exists all around us and within our bodies. Children are always fascinated to see how "bilateral" they are.

We will expand our knowledge by looking at everydayt fun things that use symmetry in their design. Our focus will be the kite. After reading a story about kites and learning a little about Ben Franklin, we will design our own kites and fly them high!

Children delight in seeing how math works in their world.

Bring your students to the next level

Nature's creations aare beautiful mathematical models. Bring this program to your classroom and your students will be fascinated to see how the hexagon plays an integral part in their world.

Nature is so smart it knew to design honeycombs, molecules in our bodies, and even snowflakes using hexagonal shapes.

After discussing the mathematics fo this efficient design, each student will make their own beeswax candle so they can show the world how cool the hexagon is.
